Akasa Air and AFI KLM E&M sign repair and maintenance deal

Air France Industries KLM Engineering and Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) has agreed terms with new Indian carrier Akasa Air for a deal that includes subsidiary EPCOR providing component services and auxiliary power unit (APU) solutions.

The agreement will see AFI KLM E&M and EPCOR provide "an adaptive package of flight-hour solutions including repair services, access to a spare parts pool, provision of a main base kit and dedicated logistical support".

The agreement with Akasa, which debuted in August 2022, includes replaceable units for the engines as well as the APUs fitted on the carrier's Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet, along a range of other offerings from EPCOR, including the repair and maintenance of GTCP131-9B APUs and the provision of replacement units.

"We’re fully committed to supporting their ambitions and development by providing the best available solutions in component support, drawing upon our extensive expertise with the 737/737 MAX product," said Ton Dortmans, vice president AFI KLM E&M.

“The Indian aviation industry bears immense potential having exponentially grown to become the third largest domestic aviation market in the world. We are delighted to enable AFI KLM E&M’s group to further expand its leading position into the Indian market through this partnership," said Neelu Khatri, Akasa co-founder and senior vice president – head of operations.
