Airlink Welcomes Peter Davies as New Advisory Council Chair

Airlink has announced that Peter Davies, currently CEO and Founder of Airline Management Group, is taking the helm of the Airlink Advisory Council effective April 25, 2015. Peter will replace outgoing chair, Barry Humphreys, who has served in the position since Airlink’s inception in 2010.

“We are honoured that Peter has accepted our invitation to help us continue our mission to expand the reach of the aviation industry when responding to humanitarian causes around the globe. Following a transformative year in 2014, when Airlink made its biggest impact ever, we are at an important juncture with respect to Airlink’s growth. We look forward to having Peter’s recognized expertise in taking Airlink to the next level,” said Bob Brown, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and President of Airlink.

Peter’s more than 35 years of experience in aviation includes serving as CEO of Air Malta, CEO of Air Southwest in the UK, CEO of Caribbean Airlines in Trinidad & Tobago, and CEO of SN Brussels Airlines in Belgium. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer for DHL Express in the United States and prior to that as Regional Director, DHL Europe.

The Airlink Advisory Council is a select group of leaders in the aviation and humanitarian aid industries who volunteer their time to guide, promote, and advance the Airlink program. Each member is dedicated to assisting Airlink in expanding its network of airline and NGO partners and providing industry insight and advice. The Council is maintained through the members’ shared dedication and desire to proactively contribute to Airlink’s positive impact on global humanitarian issues.

The Airlink Advisory Council is comprised of a total of 14 members, including: Peter Davies, Chairman; David Barger, former CEO, JetBlue Airways; Robert Crandall, former President & CEO of American Airlines; Mark Dunkerley, President & CEO of Hawaiian Airlines; Ken Gazzola, former Executive VP & Group Publisher, Aviation Week; Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines; Klaus Heinemann, Chairman of the Board, Finnair OY; James Hogan, CEO of Etihad Airways; Barry Humphreys, former Director, Virgin Atlantic; John McMahon, former CEO of Genesis Lease Ltd.; William McNulty, Co-founder of Team Rubicon; Michael Platt, CEO of Lease Corporation International; Juanita Rilling, Director, Center for International Disaster Information; and Emily Sperling, Advisor and former President at ShelterBox USA, Inc.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to extend our thanks to Barry Humphreys, who has served as Chairman of the Advisory Council since Airlink’s inception in 2010. He has played an integral role in building the organization into what it is today, and although he will be stepping down from the Chairmanship, he has graciously agreed to continue to serve on the Council,” concluded Bob Brown.
