Airlines for America (A4A) has appointed former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu as the association’s president and CEO commencing September 9, assuming the role from Nick Calio after his 15 years of service.
“I am honoured to join Airlines for America during this critical moment for an aviation industry that supports over ten million jobs and serves as a key economic driver in communities big and small across the country,” said Sununu.
The incoming CEO added that he is looking forward to working closely with President Trump and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Congress, and other aviation stakeholders to support the ongoing investment and overhaul of our air traffic control infrastructure.
The airline lobbying group includes American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, FedEx, and Southwest Airlines among its members.
Calio, who joined A4A in 2011, will remain on as CEO emeritus through the end of the year. Under his leadership, A4A rebranded and strongly positioned itself as an influential voice in shaping legislative and regulatory policies affecting air travel and cargo shipping.
Sununu was the 82nd Governor of the State of New Hampshire, serving four terms from 2017 to 2025.
