airBaltic has reported a strong start to the year with January traffic up 16% compared to the same month last year. A total of 287,900 passengers were carried across 3,170 flights, a 4% increase in services from 2023. “Our focus this year is on expanding our fleet and destination offerings, a step towards not only recovering to pre-pandemic levels but also surpassing them,” said airBaltic president and CEO Martin Guss. In 2023, the Latvian national carrier transported around 4.5 million passengers; 36% more than in 2022. Additionally, the airline has closed a sale-leaseback deal with Revenue Capital Partners (RCP) and GOAL German Operating Aircraft Leasing for six new A220-300 aircraft. The first three of these have been delivered with the outstanding aircraft scheduled to follow in the second half of 2024. RCP served as the anchor investor and co-structurer while GOAL acted as the co-investor, co-structurer, arranger and servicer.
