airBaltic optimistic about resuming Ukraine services
Latvian national carrier airBaltic is optimistic about the resumption of services to and from Ukraine, chief executive officer and president Martin Gauss has suggested, following a visit to Kyiv. Gauss and a delegation recently visited Kyiv for a meeting with Oleksandr Kubrakov, the deputy prime minister for the restoration of Ukraine and minister for insfrastructure, and Oleiksiy Dubrevskyy, chief executive officer of the Boryspil International Airport. During the meeting, Gauss confirmed airBaltic’s readiness to resume flights to Kyiv, Lyiv and gradually Odesa, following a declaration from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) that it is safe to do so. “airBaltic remains a confident and supportive partner in the reconstruction and professionalism of Ukrainian aviation,” explained Gauss. “As soon as it is safely possible … airBaltic is committed to being among the first to resume flights with our neighbouring country, ensuring connectivity and supporting Ukraine’s independence”. Dubrevskyy added that airBaltic’s visit “is an essential phase in the implementation of the process of future flight resumption, along with building a reliable architecture for flight safety and passenger security, maintaining airport infrastructure and retention of highly qualified personnel, and maintaining the airport’s certified activities”.
