Cornwell Muleya, CEO of Air Uganda, has confirmed that the airline has joined AFRAA, the African Airline Association. The Ugandan carrier will now be able to join the joint fuel purchasing program in which AFRAA has made over US$30 million in savings for fuel purchases for participating member airlines.
Muleya said: “Air Uganda became a full member of AFRAA in May 2014. This is part of our broad strategy to participate fully in the industry associations as we continue to grow the company and business. The membership gives us access to the full range of benefits including the joint fuel purchase scheme, the lower training costs organized by AFRAA and IATA, joint ground handling, coordinated lobbying for aviation policy changes etc.”
Air Uganda had also already placed an application for full IATA membership.
