Air Serbia is expecting to make profit in 2022, following the pandemic losses, the airline said. In 2021, the airline claims to have improved the operational performance and even reduced the losses. Air Serbia is a regional airline in the Balkans and the airline management plans to keep its market share of around 50 to 55%. The airline reported a loss of €77 million during 2020, first time in six consecutive years.
The airline expects to overtake its operational capacity to pre-pandemic level towards the end of this year. In 2023 Air Serbia will definitely surpass 2019 levels and from then on, we aim to grow between 10% and 15% every year, the airline said.
Just last year, Air Serbia paid US$63 million to Etihad Airways Partners BV for a special purpose vehicle set up by Etihad Airways in September 2015 to raise funds for itself and its equity partners.
Meanwhile, Air Serbia will take delivery of A320, formerly operated by Vistara, as a part of its fleet modernisation program. The aircraft is currently under storage and will be inducted in Air Serbia fleet in next few weeks.
