Air Serbia confident of a return to profit

Air Serbia has announced that it is on track to reach profitability by the end of the year. For the third quarter, the carrier posted a 54% rise in revenue to €57 million with passenger numbers up 74% to 730,000. August was airline’s busiest month, with 239,000 passengers carried. Capacity has increase 62% to 967 million ASK by the end of Q3 2014.

Air Serbia Cargo also figures also rose by 64% during the period with 669 tonnes freight carried. No figures were reported for profit and losses for the group, however.

Etihad Airways owns 49% in the rebranded carrier and has been credited for the substantial improvements. Air Serbia signed a new codeshare agreement with Etihad Regional, providing passengers with greater access and connectivity to Swiss destinations.
