Air Mauritius has dismissed claims that suggest the airline will “imminently shutdown”, following reports made within the media.
In a statement, the Mauritian flag-carrier reaffirmed its commitment to operations, reassuring stakeholders, including passengers, that there is no plan to close the airline.
Acknowledging the company’s ongoing financial difficulties, parent company Airport Holdings Ltd (AHL) announced it had converted a shareholder loan of 8.047bn Mauritian rupees ($177.03 million) into equity, in order to strengthen the airline's balance sheet.
The airline also emphasised that it is taking “proactive steps” to enhance operational efficiency and improve performance.
Air Mauritius expressed confidence in a positive financial outlook for the 2025/26 period.
