Air India received the first of 13 retrofitted 777-300 aircraft on April 3, 2025, according to local media reports.
The 777 aircraft was reportedly retrofit in around 50 days, with improvement works on the airlines legacy 777 fleet expected to be completed by the end of the year, officials stated.
Last month, Air India introduced its first retrofitted narrowbody aircraft back into operations. The A320neo was sent for a retrofit last year, part of a $400 million retrofit programme announced by the Tata group to upgrade the airline's fleet of legacy narrowbody and widebody aircraft.
