Air India orders 34 trainer aircraft

Air India placed an order for 34 trainer aircraft as it prepares to start training cadet pilots at the Flying Training Organisation (FTO). The FTO is set to be established in Amravati by the second half of 2025.

The order includes 31 single-engine aircraft from Piper Aircraft in the US and three twin-engine aircraft from Diamond Aircraft in Australia. The trainer aircraft are due to begin deliveries in 2025.

The FTO is part of Air India's initiative to form a pipeline of pilots as it continues to expand its fleet.
