Pierre-Henri Gourgeon, chief executive office of Air France-KLM Group has called on the European Union to take action to create a fair market for air traffic between Europe and the Middle East.
Gourgeon, was reported by the Dutch daily newspaper De Telegraaf, as stating that, “It’s not healthy that we fly 12 times a week to the Middle East and they fly 35 times to France.”
He also complained about the Gulf airlines order book for hundreds of new aircraft, which he said could only have been ordered with the aid of export credit guarantees. Air France-KLM is one of several home country airlines that have complained about their inability to tap into this cheap form of finance.
