Air France has cancelled 30% of its flights today due to strike action by Air France pilots, cabin crew and ground staff. The flag carrier has grounded 45% of its long haul flights, 35% of medium-haul flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport as well as 20% of short-haul flights from Orly airport in Paris and airports around the country.
Unions are calling for a 6% pay rise across the board and have rejected the management's offer of a one percent rise, and a subsequent offer of a 2% from 2018 and a 3.6% rise between 2019 and 2021.
Air France has warned that the strikes are costing €25 million each day. Staff will also work out tomorrow for a ninth day of strike, with strikes also scheduled for April 23-24.
