Air France has announced a codeshare partnership with kulula.com, South Africa’s largest low-fare airline.
Under this partnership, Air France will add its code to kulula.com’s domestic route network, allowing customers to seamlessly connect to and from Cape Town, Durban, George and East London, and enjoy the benefits of purchasing a single Air France ticket, with the added convenience of one-stop check-in and baggage transfer.
In addition to these benefits, in the future, premium Air France customers will have access to the SLOW lounges, conveniently situated in the domestic terminals at OR Tambo International (Johannesburg), Cape Town International, and Durban International airports. Air France and kulula.com have also confirmed that discussions are underway to include the Flying Blue Frequent Flyer Programme in the new partnership, which would allow members of the programme to accrue and redeem miles on kulula.com code share flights.
Erik Venter, Comair’s chief executive officer said “We are delighted to be adding Air France as a key airline partner and will continue to work with them to explore opportunities to expand on our partnership. We look forward to welcoming their customers on board our flights.”
Frank Legre, senior vice president for Africa at Air France-KLM said “We are confident that our customers will benefit from the partnership, providing them with more convenient booking and travel options within South Africa. We are excited to be working with kulula.com and look forward to further expanding our relationship.”
The codeshare partnership with Air France-KLM marks kulula.com’s second with a SkyTeam Alliance member, and follows the successful implementation of the codeshare agreement signed with Kenya Airways earlier this year.
Bookings will open for sale at a later date, pending the South African Department of Transport’s regulatory approval.
