Ethiopian Airlines orders six more A350s

Ethiopian Airlines has placed a firm order for six more A350-900 aircraft, strengthening its position as the largest A350 operator in Africa.

The Ethiopian flag carrier currently operates a fleet of 21 A350-900 and four A350-1000.

Both aircraft types are powered by next-generation Rolls-Royce XWB engines delivering a 25% advantage in fuel burn, operating costs, and carbon emissions.

Ethiopian Airlines is the largest carrier in Africa, with a total operating fleet of 167 aircraft.

Yesterday, as covered by Airline Economics, the airline also announced a new commitment to purchase 11 additional 737 MAX 8 jets.

Ethiopian Airlines operates the largest fleet of Boeing aircraft in Africa, and has the largest backlog of 737 MAX, 777X, and 787 Dreamliner aircraft on the continent.
