Air China reports marginal dip in July passenger traffic

Air China carried 14.46 million passengers during July, a 0.4% decline from the same period of last year. International passenger numbers increased 7.8%, offsetting declines of 1.3% in the domestic segment and 2.2% in regional routes.

The airline said passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), rose 2.2% on the prior year, while capacity increased 2.3%. The overall passenger load factor slipped by 0.1 percentage points to 80.1%.

International operations led the growth, with capacity up 10.3% and traffic rising 9.7% compared to July 2024. Domestic routes saw a slight contraction, with ASK down 0.4% and RPK falling 0.2%.

Air China expanded its fleet during the month, adding three aircraft - one C919, one A320, and one 737 - while retiring two A330s. At month’s end, the airline operated 935 aircraft, including 417 self-owned jets and 518 under lease.
