Air Canada will be the first airline to feature Airbus’ new “Airspace cabin” on its A220 aircraft.
Airbus announced the new Airspace cabin in 2023, with A220 line-fit is expected later in 2025 with retrofitting being available to A220 customers in the coming years.
The new cabin will feature larger luggage bins, that can hold 15% more baggage, accommodating up to 19 additional items, while supporting larger, heavier payloads.
“The introduction of larger overhead bins on future A220s means more space for your belongings, quicker boarding, and an even better experience on board,” said John Moody, managing director, onboard product at Air Canada,
Air Canada most recently signed a firm order with Airbus for an additional five A220-300s on December 20, 2024.
This order follows an initial purchase in 2016 for 45 A220-300s and a reorder in 2022 for 15 more. Air Canada’s total firm orders for the A220-300 stands at 65 aircraft.
Airbus said that larger luggage bins will become “the new standard” later in 2026.
