Air Canada offers flexible rebooking in light of potential pilot strike
The Canadian flag carrier Air Canada has introduced a flexible booking system for its customers, due to the possibility of a pilot strike in the coming weeks. The move comes as the airline continues on its ongoing contract negotiations with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA). In relation to talks with pilots, the airline commented: “During the talks, there has been significant progress and the three-week cooling off period gives the parties more than sufficient time to address any outstanding issues. Air Canada is fully committed to bargaining meaningfully throughout the period.” They continued: “However, certainty about their travel plans is important to customers. For this reason, Air Canada has introduced a goodwill policy to give all customers flexibility with imminent travel plans.” During the period - immediately preceding and after the end of the cooling off period - on September 17, 2024, Air Canada customers can change travel plans at no additional cost. The airline further added: “Operations of the airline continue as normal.”
