Air Canada expects to resume close to its full flight schedule on August 22, following major disruptions caused by a strike by unionised cabin crew that grounded operations over the weekend and earlier this week.
The airline confirmed that its full fleet of aircraft returned to service on August 21, following cancellations and delays across its network due to the labour action.
Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge operations had remained suspended after the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) said striking flight attendants would not obey a back-to-work order issued by the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) and won’t back down until a fair deal has been reached for their members.
“Air Canada’s 40,000 coworkers, with their exceptional commitment and expertise, have allowed us to restore operations ahead of plan," said Mark Nasr, executive vice president and chief operations officer at Air Canada.
Earlier this week the carrier had specified that a full recovery could take up to ten days.
Following the disruption, the airline has pulled its third quarter and full year 2025 guidance.
