Air Arabia Q2 net profits climb 31%

In the three months ending June 30, 2012, Air Arabia reported a net profit of AED 66million, an increase of 31% compared to AED 51 million in the corresponding period in 2011. Revenue during the period rose by 23% to AED 729 million.
The airline carried 1.3 million passengers in the second quarter of 2012, an increase of 15% compared to the same period last year. Air Arabia's average seat load factor was 85%, a rise of 3% on the same period last year.
"Air Arabia's expansion strategy and efficient operating model continue to be reflected in the airline's financial performance, amidst continues political challenges that the region is witnessing" said Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al Thani, Chairman of Air Arabia. "In the second quarter of this year, our proven ability to identify and capitalize on underserved routes continued to reap enormous benefits."
For the six months ending June 30, 2012, Air Arabia reported a net profit of AED 115 million, an increase of 22%, while turnover rose by 22% to AED 1.3billion. The airline carried 2.5 million passengers in the first half of 2012, an increase of 11%.
