Air Algérie places order for 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft

Algerian flag carrier, Air Algérie, has placed an order for 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft, the largest order from an African operator in ATR history

Deliveries of the new aircraft are scheduled between 2026 and 2028 and will be operated by a newly created regional subsidiary of Air Algérie – Domestic Airlines.

Air Algérie is ATR’s largest customer in Africa and has been operating the manufacturer's aircraft since 2003, with previous acquisitions in 2008 and 2014. The airline currently operates 12 ATR 72-500s and three ATR 72-600s.

In addition to these new aircraft, the airline has also purchased one ATR 72-600 simulator, which will be installed at Air Algérie’s existing training centre.
