AF-KLM notes reduction in traffic to and from Paris in run up to Olympics
Air traffic to and from Paris is lagging behind other European capitals, according to Air France and Transavia France, with the airlines experiencing pressure on projected unit revenues for the summer season due to the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. This comes as French residents are postponing their summer holidays until after the Olympic games. As a result, Air France-KLM currently estimates a negative impact on its forthcoming unit revenues in an order of magnitude, from €160 to €180 million for the period between June and August 2024. Travel to and from France is expected to normalise after the Olympic Games, with the airline noting ""encouraging demand levels"" projected for the end of August and the month of September. More details will be provided during the Group’s half year results, on July 25.
