Russia's Aeroflot is to begin operating flights to the new Beijing Daxing International Airport, taking the carrier's flights to the Chinese capital to three a week from February 15.
"Flights on the Moscow - Beijing - Moscow route will be operated on Boeing 777 widebody aircraft," the carrier announced on January 27. Earlier the same week Aeroflot said it would add more flights to its weekly schedules from Moscow to Shanghai and Moscow to Guangzhou.
Aeroflot has seen its range of destinations limited by Western sanctions imposed after Russia's invasion of Ukraine almost one year ago. Hopes are high in the airline industry, in Russia and beyond, that China's recent ditching of its draconian 'zero Covid' rules will lead to a travel boom.
