AerFin repairs and returns one CFM56 engine to service

AerFin has successfully repaired and returned to service one CFM56 engine, which was originally considered unserviceable.

The engine was one of three acquired for teardown but rather than dismantling all three, the company implemented a repair strategy, replacing the 21X and 22X modules with serviceable components from one of the other engines in the package.

“By completing the complex module swap internally, AerFin accelerated turnaround times, improved cost efficiency, and enhanced the engine’s commercial value - proving the strength of our integrated approach,” AerFin said in a statement.

Following repair, the engine underwent a successful test cell run. This is the first time AerFin has completed a full-cycle engine repair and return-to-service using its own infrastructure.

The work was carried out entirely at the company's maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Wales.
