American Airlines has returned its flight schedules and fares to website operator Orbitz Worldwide after the carrier and the online reservation service reached a contract agreement. The return follows last week’s withdrawal of AA’s flights from the Orbitz system after distribution contract talks dissolved.
In a statement, Orbitz said: “Consumers should be able to see all available flights from American immediately.”
The change primarily affects Orbitz.com and Cheaptickets.com. Corporate clients using Orbitz for Business to book travel were not affected.
AA had also planned remove merger partner US Airways’ flights on September 1st when its existing contract expired.
AA also previously withdrew data from Orbitz in 2010, and in April 2013 the two parties settled a legal disagreement over competing systems to provide fare and flight schedule data to online reservation systems.
