70 new airports planned for China

Speaking at the IATA conference in Beijing, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) chief Li Jiaxiang declares China’s plans to build 70 new airports in the next few years and to expand 100 existing airports.

Li also reiterated pledges that Chinese carriers would buy on average more than 300 planes a year from 2011 to 2015.

The number of Chinese airports will reach more than 230 by the end of 2015, with Chinese carriers flying around 4,700 planes.
