Qatar Airways said it is in the final stages of an equity investment in an airline in the southern part of Africa, its new CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer said at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha, according to Reuters. The deal could be announced within the coming weeks. The deal is reportedly a part of the carrier’s network expansion plans in Africa, with the CEO claiming that the southern part of Africa was a gap in Qatar’s network coverage on the continent.
