Werner Aero acquires A320 for teardown to expand aftermarket parts supply

Werner Aero has acquired an Airbus A320-200 aircraft from AerCap as part of its strategy to expand its aftermarket parts inventory.

The aircraft is scheduled to be delivered to Greenwood–Leflore Airport in the US, where it will be dismantled. Components recovered from the aircraft will be used to support operators of A320 family jets, one of the most widely used narrowbody platforms globally.

Werner Aero said the acquisition would strengthen its ability to provide serviceable material to airlines and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) providers, as demand for cost-effective spare parts continues to grow. The teardown is expected to generate a range of components for redistribution across its global customer base.

The company, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, specialises in aircraft asset management and logistics, with a focus on narrowbody aircraft including the A320 and Boeing 737NG families.
