Vietnam Helicopter Corporation orders three Airbus H225s to support offshore expansion

Vietnam Helicopter Corporation has ordered three H225 helicopters from Airbus Helicopters to support the expansion of its offshore energy operations and replace ageing aircraft.

The order was placed by its subsidiaries, Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company and Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company, and forms part of a broader strategy to modernise the group’s heavy helicopter fleet.

The H225s will be deployed across offshore energy transport, search and rescue, utility missions and wider transport operations. They will join VNH’s existing Airbus fleet, which includes Super Puma and H155 helicopters.

The agreement extends a long-standing partnership between VNH and Airbus that spans more than 40 years, and reflects the operator’s plan to centre future operations around the H225 platform.

VNH said the aircraft would enhance reliability, safety and operational flexibility, particularly in demanding offshore environments. The H225 is designed for high performance, with extended range and payload capacity, alongside advanced avionics and autopilot systems aimed at reducing pilot workload.

More than 360 H225 and H225M helicopters are currently in service worldwide, with a combined total of over one million flight hours.

The latest order underlines continued demand for heavy helicopters in offshore energy markets, where operators are investing in newer aircraft to improve efficiency and support mission-critical operations.
