Over the past five days, 16 flights have been disrupted by fake airline bomb threats on Twitter. The latest was on Tuesday this week when an American Airlines flight landed in Chicago safely after a tweet claiming to be from Islamic State claimed there was a bomb on board, according to USA Today. The same day, a United Airlines flight, which had already been cancelled due to snow, was also claimed to have a bomb onboard by a Twitter account called @RansomTheThug. The account is now suspended.
