Shares in Hainan Airlines rose by 10% - the most in more than two years in Shanghai trading. China Southern Airlines gained 3.6% with Air China shares up 6.4%.
Airline results have been buoyed by high passenger demand and the outlook is positive as the industry enters the peak season in the second quarter.
Batavia Air ordered to pay employee compensation
Bankrupt Batavia Air has been ordered by the Indonesian government to pay its former employees 14 billion rupiah (US$1.43 million) in severance compensation.
