Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will launch three new long-haul routes for Winter 2026/27, linking Copenhagen with Dubai, Phuket and Krabi.
The move marks SAS’ return to Dubai for the first time since 2011 and represents its first scheduled services to Phuket and Krabi. The airline said the additions respond to rising demand for travel to the Middle East and Asia while reinforcing Copenhagen’s role as a hub for Scandinavia and Northern Europe.
Thailand will see more than 75% additional capacity compared with last winter, with SAS becoming the only airline to offer nonstop services from Copenhagen to some of the country’s most popular leisure destinations. The Dubai service restores direct access to the UAE for SAS customers, targeting both business and leisure markets.
The expansion is underpinned by the delivery of two additional Airbus A350 aircraft, enabling a 34% increase in A350 operations across the network. SAS will also boost capacity on existing long-haul routes, adding 70% more seats to Boston, 20% to San Francisco and 10% to Chicago. In Asia, capacity will grow by more than 50% to Seoul, 40% to Tokyo Haneda and 15% to Bangkok.
Paul Verhagen, SAS chief operating officer, said the new routes strengthen the airline’s long-haul offering and expand nonstop options for customers. Chief revenue officer Erik Westman added that the additional aircraft and higher frequencies support the airline’s ambition for sustainable growth.
