The South African Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has confirmed that South African Airways (SAA) needs about R2bn to R3bn a year to survive.
SAA is currently dependent on the R14.4bn government guarantee and has been granted another month to supply its annual report.
The government stated that discussions were taking place with SAA to improve its financial position.
