Ryanair welcomes UK court conviction over drunk passenger

Ryanair welcomed the conviction of an unruly passenger by the Bristol Crown Court in the UK, in a case the airline said highlights the consequences of disruptive behaviour during flights.

The passenger, who disrupted flight FR5518 from Krakow to Bristol on November 11, 2025, pleaded guilty after consuming duty-free alcohol, verbally abusing other passengers and failing to comply with crew instructions. The individual was sentenced to 10 months in prison.

Ryanair said the ruling supports its strict zero-tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct, which it said is aimed at ensuring a safe and stress-free travel environment for both passengers and crew.

“We welcome the Bristol Crown Court’s conviction of this unruly passenger whose inexcusable behaviour disrupted a flight from Krakow to Bristol in November 2025,” said a Ryanair spokeswoman. “This demonstrates just one of the many consequences, including travel bans and offload fines, that passengers who disrupt flights will face as part of Ryanair’s zero tolerance policy.”

The airline added that it will continue to pursue action against disruptive passengers, arguing that such behaviour is caused by a small minority but has a disproportionate impact on flights. Press reports suggest that around 500 people have been arrested for drunken offences on aircraft in the last three years at UK airports.
