Riyadh Air will launch daily services to the Egyptian capital Cairo, the new Saudi airline said today (February 24).
The service will begin “soon” on its new 787-9 Dreamliner.
The airline said the delivery of its first new 787-9 aircraft will be in the “coming weeks”, with it set to launch commercial services to London, Dubai and Cairo soon after.
The capital was chosen due to “immense demand”, with 2.7 million passengers flying between Riyadh and Cairo last year.
“The launch of our commercial service to Cairo marks a true beginning of our journey to connect Riyadh to the world, and the world to Riyadh,” said Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas. “This route has been carefully selected to serve a key market that aligns with our ambition to become a global destination and a significant contributor to Vision 2030.”
