Lockheed Martin and Textron are the final contenders to buy United Technologies' Sikorsky Aircraft unit, which could be valued at as much as $8bn.
Latest press reports states that United Technologies is weighing offers from the two companies and may come to a decision by the end of the month. It has not written off spinning off the unit to shareholders in a tax-free deal, however.
