IndiGo is the first of the largest Indian carriers to increase its fares in light of rising fuel costs and a weakening rupee, with the addition of a fuel surcharge on domestic routes.
SpiceJet and Jet Airways are reported to be evaluating whether to pass on rising costs to passengers.
