Cathay Group reports January traffic

Cathay Group has reported traffic figure for January 2026, with the company collectively carrying 3.3 million passengers during the month. 

The total includes Cathay Pacific and HK Express. It marks an 11% increase compared with January last year. 

Cathay Cargo carried over 130,000 tonnes of cargo during the month, increasing 5%. 

“Our solid start to the year has continued in February,” said Cathay chief customer and commercial officer Lavinia Lau. “On 14 February 2026, both Cathay Pacific and the Cathay Group achieved new single-day passenger records.”

Cathay Pacific carried 100,747 passengers on the day, surpassing the 100,000 mark for the first time. Combined with HK Express, the group carried a combined total of around 128,000 passengers on February 14. 

In January, Cathay Pacific carried 11.5% more passengers to 2.6 million, with capacity up 14%. Load factor was down 1.5 percentage points, however, to 84.9%. 

HK Express carried just over 717,000 passengers during the month, marking a 7.6% increase, while capacity was up 12.8%. Passenger load factor was down 3.5 percentage points to 81.1%.
