The average US domestic air fare decreased 4.6%, down to $366, in the third quarter of 2024, compared to the previous quarter, according to a report from the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) on January 14, 2025.
In addition, domestic fares were down 3.1% compared to the same period in 2023.
US passenger airlines collected 74.9% of total operating revenue of $138.1bn from passenger fares during the first nine months of the year.
