Abelo has confirmed three additional ATR 72-600 aircraft options, taking its total firm orders to 36 under an agreement first signed at the 2023 Dubai Airshow.
The Irish-based leasing firm said the latest order will support deliveries from 2027, while it continues to hold nine remaining options and purchase rights. The move extends Abelo’s commitment to regional turboprop aircraft as it expands its global portfolio.
The company said around one-third of its firm commitments have already been placed or delivered, with aircraft deployed to airlines including SKY Express and Aegean in Greece, SATENA in Colombia, and Ethiopian Airlines, which recently received two new ATR turboprops.
Steve Gorman, chief executive of Abelo, said the decision reflected “confidence in the ATR asset” and its relevance for regional operators, adding the aircraft would support airline partners with efficient solutions.
ATR said the order highlighted the strength of its relationship with the lessor. Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, chief executive of ATR, said Abelo’s continued fleet expansion demonstrated “our shared commitment to providing regional airlines with efficient, modern turboprops”.
Abelo specialises in turboprop leasing and is backed by funds managed by Cerberus Capital Management.
