WOW air will add seven new Airbus aircraft to its rapidly growing fleet by the end of 2018, bringing the total count to 24.
With routes soon to begin from Iceland to Miami, Pittsburgh and Chicago, the airline will operate an all-Airbus fleet of 17 aircraft throughout its 32 international routes across Europe and North America by mid-2017. The additional seven will be delivered over the subsequent 18 months.
“We are proud to be able to offer our passengers one of the youngest fleet worldwide. This addition will help us grow even more and to fly greater lengths than before. A bigger and younger fleet will, without a doubt, benefit us in the ever-growing, competitive aviation market as brand-new planes are much more economic,” says Skuli Mogensen, CEO of WOW air.
Among the additions will be four brand new A330-900neo widebody aircraft on a 12-year lease from CIT Aerospace International. The Icelandic carrier will operate the aircraft with a single class cabin holding 365 seats, including 42 that are broader and offer additional legroom.
Also among the seven fleet additions will be two A321ceo aircraft, one purchased directly from Airbus and the other leased from Air Lease Corporation (ALC).
