Wizz Air trading update

In a trading update for the year ended 31 March 2019, Wizz Air confirms that trading in the fourth quarter is in line with expectations and the company expects to deliver a net profit for the year in the upper half of its guidance range of between €270m and €300m.

The airline said that demand across its operating markets remains robust as demonstrated by its March 2019 traffic statistics with load factors up 2.6ppts to 94.1% year-on-year.

Wizz Air reports that the new financial year has started well with Revenue per Available Seat per Kilometre (RASK) forecast +4% year-on-year in the first quarter on 18% ASK growth.   This revenue performance is driven by the strength of ancillary revenues which is expected to continue into the summer and also the timing of Easter, said the airline, adding that ex-fuel CASK in the first quarter will be broadly flat year-on-year.

Wizz Air also launched rescue fares last week to assist stranded WOW Air passengers on flights from or to Reykjavík to Warsaw and London Stansted and London Gatwick.
