Wizz Air passenger traffic for October 2020 fell 69.1% compared to the year-ago period to carry 1.146million passengers on the back of a 55.3% decline in capacity. Load factor during the month was down 29.4 percentage points to 65.9%.
For the 12 months to the end of October, passenger traffic fell 43.3% to 21.85 million passengers with capacity down 33.7%. Load factor was79.9%, a fall of 13.7 percentage points.
In October 2020, Wizz announced a major expansion in Norway with a new base in Oslo with two based aircraft as well as a new base in Trondheim with two based aircraft. The airline also announced a new base in Bari, Italy with one based aircraft.
Wizz Air has expanded its fleet with the addition of two brand new A320neo family aircraft, taking the fleet to 134 aircraft.
Wizz Air has also reported its CO2 emissions at 64.0 grams per passenger/km for the rolling 12 months to 31 October 2020. For the month of September, emissions in grams per passenger/km were 28.9% higher due to the drop in load factor, while total CO2 emissions in tonnes decreased at a slightly higher rate than capacity.
