Wizz Air reports August 2021 traffic and Co2 emission statistics

Wizz Air carried 3,582,000 passengers at a load factor of 84% in August 2021, compared to 2,381,214 passengers in August 2020 with a load factor of 70.9%. Capacity measured in seats rose by 27.5% compared to August last year with 4,284,524 seats in August 2021.

For the 12 months to end August 2021, Wizz Air passenger traffic is down by 44.6% serving 14,773,076 passengers, with a load factor of 85.7% a drop of 15.3 percentage points.  Capacity was down 32.6% with 20,989,144 seats.

During the month, Wizz Air announced four new routes from North Macedonia to Italy, Germany and Denmark - Skopje to Bologna and Turin (Italy), Skopje to Billund (Denmark), and Ohrid to Friedrichshafen (Germany). The first flights to all destinations will depart in December 2021.

Wizz Air also announced the allocation of a second aircraft to its Sarajevo base in Bosnia and Herzegovina and sixth aircraft to Tirana base in Albania. The additional aircraft will join the respective fleets from December 2021, enabling the start of new routes from Sarajevo to Frankfurt, Cologne, Hamburg (Germany), Venice (Italy), Billund (Denmark), Malmo (Sweden) and Oslo (Norway) and from Tirana to Liverpool (United Kingdom), Madrid (Spain), Billund (Denmark) and Oslo (Norway). New additions will also enable increase of frequencies on airline’s existing routes.

Wizz Air emitted 69.7 grams per passenger/km for the rolling 12 months to 31 August 2021. For the month of August, emissions in grams per passenger/km were 13.1% lower compared to same month last year, as load factors improved.
