Wizz Air in 97% passenger traffic increase

Wizz Air carried almost 3.8 million passengers in February 2023,  a 97.1% increase compared to February 2022.

The Hungarian airline announced several new routes during the month, including Abu Dhabi-Bishkek, Vienna-Malaga and Rome-Rzeszow.

However flights to and from Chisinau are to be suspended from March 14 due to security concerns related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with extra flights from next-door Romania to be laid on.

The carrier signed a deal with Neste for the supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from 2025 and claimed to operate with "amongst the lowest CO2 emissions per passenger/km amongst all competitor airlines".

However it was named the worst airline operating in the UK in a survey by British consumer research and advice group Which?
