Wizz Air's passenger numbers were up 10.8% to 5.4 million during April. Additionally, the European airline's capacity was up 11.4% for the month, compared to the same period last year.
The double digit growth largely reflects the timing of the Easter holidays this year, which fell entirely into April as opposed to late March and early April last year.
“We expect this seasonal effect to normalise in the months ahead, consistent with historical trends,” read Wizz Air in its report. “While overall demand was strong, load factor was modestly lower due to one-directional VFR traffic patterns during the Easter holiday period.”
The company's load factor was down 0.5 percentage points to 89.8%.
The company emissions were up 8.8% in April, though down 2.5% to 5.13 grams per passenger.
