Cargolux has been accused by employees of falsifying safety reports, unfairly dismissing colleagues and intimidating staff.
Captain George Karambilas, president of the Luxembourg Association of Pilots (ALPL), said: “We have evidence of management asking a pilot to modify a report, and more people are coming forward now to say the same thing. Our main mission is for safety in aviation. Our management is intimidating pilots, which doesn’t let them do their jobs correctly and this is a serious problem.”
Pilots who work for the cargo airline staged a protest at Luxembourg airport yesterday when some 300 pilots stated that they felt “intimidated and repressed” in their current work environment.
“This has been happening for three years now, progressively getting more and more out of hand,” says Karambilas. “The intimidation has to stop. This has been happening for three years now. We want to sit down with management and prove to them that the incidents have happened so we can come out stronger together on the other side.”
Cargolux has vigorously denied claims it falsified documents but said it was ready to speak to the pilots and welcomed the Civil Aviation Authority investigation.
