Vueling has launched its ‘NextGen aviation challenge’, a competition aimed at driving advancements in sustainability and the customer experience within the low-cost aviation industry.
The challenge invites businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs across Europe to present “revolutionary solutions” aimed to innovation in the industry. Those selected will pitch their ideas to industry leaders at the FYFN event during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 5, 2025.
Through the challenge, the airline is looking for “innovative proposals” that contribute to net zero emission goals by 2050.
“The solutions presented must include advancements in operational efficiency, sustainable fuels, aircraft and engine technologies, carbon capture methods, and initiatives that empower customers and employees to embrace sustainability,” said the airline in a statement.
Vueling said it is exploring emerging technologies such as AI, VR, and quantum computing to improve the customer experience. The company is looking for opportunities across the entire customer journey, from simplifying booking and check-in processes, to enhancing in-flight comfort.
