Vueling anticipates a busy summer travel season with over 100,000 passengers per day with Bilbao and Rome as top-selling destinations from London Gatwick. The London Gatwick – Barcelona route is the most popular connection during the summer season of 2023 in the UK, the airline said.
During the peak summer season over July and August, the airline is operating over 56 weekly flights between London Gatwick and Barcelona, 21 weekly flights between London Gatwick and Rome and over 22 weekly flights between London Gatwick and Bilbao.
These statistics show that Barcelona remains a summer holiday favourite for families looking to get away during the school break or for tourists looking to maximise their bank holiday weekend in August.
Commenting on the new data, Jordi Pla, director of network strategy and long-term planning at Vueling said: “Barcelona has always been a popular holiday destination, so there are no surprises to see it at the top of the list, but we are delighted to see Bilbao growing in popularity this year, where Vueling remains a leader too. Vueling is scheduled to make a global average of 700 daily flights this summer across 104 destinations and 278 routes, offers direct return flights from Gatwick to Bilbao and Barcelona seven days a week.
