Vueling is celebrating women in its senior management positions doubling over the last five years to 57% for International Women's Day on March 8, 2024. Back in 2019, its percentage of women in its management committee was 29%.
According to Grant Thornton's Women in Business 2023 report, the average percentage of woman in senior management positions being 32% globally. The average is 33% in Europe and 38% in Spain.
Vueling also noted that 40% of its management and director positions are held by women, up five percentage points from 2019. Though it added its pilots were predominantly male. ""Vueling recognises that there is still a long way to go in this area,"" the company stated. ""Aware of this challenge, the company is committed to continue working on social awareness initiatives to encourage greater female representation in the aviation industry"". Female pilots represented 4.6% of its pilots.
Its management committee comprises of four women; commercial, strategy and route planning director Carolyn Prowse, finance director Joana de Epalza, transformation director Heather Figallo, and communication, sustainability and institutional relations director Sandra Hors.
